Emails Taking Over Your Life?
Are you someone who's constantly checking their emails so much so that it's overtaking your life?
Well it turns out it's becomming as addictive as slot machines with employees now spending up to half a day in their inboxes.
And its costing companies billions according to Loughborough Uni's Dr Tom Jackson.
He's developed new software that checks our emails as we send them - a bit like a teacher standing over our desks as we work!
Questions to ask yourself when writing an email:
1. Email is the most suitable communication medium for this message. If it takes longer than 2 minutes to read should you meet face-to-face or call the recipient?
2. Is the email easy to read?
3. Is the email straight to the point?
4. Is the email totally relevant to the recipient(s)?
5. If it is an actionable email:
a. Does it state what action is expected of the recipient(s)?
b. Does it states when action is required of the recipient(s)?
6. The subject line should contain sufficient detail for:
a. The recipient(s) to assess the importance of the message
b. The recipient(s) to know what the message is about
