Each local commercial radio station in the UK has requirements in respect of its music and local content, such as news, speech levels etc. These requirements are set out in the station "Format", a document issued by Ofcom, the UK's radio regulator.
This Public File contains details of the elements that Ofcom regulate, such as music tracks, local news etc. It is intended to give you a better understanding of our output and what we are doing for our local community.
1. News
Leicester Sound broadcasts news bulletins on the half-hour between 0600 and 0900 and hourly from 0900 and 1900 on weekdays. These bulletins contain a mix of local, national and world stories, along with local and national sport, weather and entertainment news.
At the weekend, bulletins containing local, national and world news and sport are broadcast on Leicester Sound between 0700 and 1300 on Saturday, and 0800 and 1300 on Sunday. Additionally, national bulletins are broadcast from 2200 through until 0500 seven days a week.
Leicester Sound provide local travel bulletins every 15 minutes from 0645 until 0900. There are then local travel bulletins every 15 minutes on Leicester Sound between 1600 and 1830.

Leicester Sound takes programming produced at various studios, owned and operated by Leicester Sound's parent company GCap Media plc between the hours of 10am and 1pm. Between 1pm and 2pm the station automated.
6. The amount of local programming per day produced by the station
Leicester Sound's weekday daytime output 0600-1000 and 13:00 - 19:00 and peak time weekend (0800 - 12:00) is produced and presented from our studios in Leicester.
Off peak programming is produced at various studios, owned and operated by Leicester Sound's parent company GCap Media plc.

9. Events/charities support or coverage
Leicester Sound offers publicity to a wide range of local organisations and charity events taking place throughout Leicestershire.
This year Leicester Sound supported former Leicester Tigers player Leon Lloyd during his benefit year to raise money for the Matt Hampson Trust and Sparks. Leicester Sound’s presenters, hosted the charity match at Welford Road with Tigers legends such as Martin Johnson and raised more than £1000 through a charity raffle.
Leicester Sound recently held a charity night at the Leicester Racecourse to raise money for Rainbows Children’s Hospice. More than 2000 people joined Leicester Sound’s Breakfast show and Leicester Tigers players, Matt Cornwell and Johne Murphy to enjoy a night at the races and to take part in the charity raffle.
Leicester Sound, is once again running its Christmas Toy Appeal to benefit underprivileged children across Leicestershire. The Toy Appeal will benefit local charities such as Rainbows Children’s Hospice; When you wish upon a star; Menphys; Lighthouse Learning; Wishes4Kids; and the NSPCC. In 2006, Leicester Sound collected almost 5000 new toys through the Toy Appeal for five local charities with the help of local Sainsburys stores.
Leicester Sound are partners with Leicester City Football Club, Leicester Racecourse & Conference Centre and Leicester County Cricket Club.
